Design 101: Open Concepts

Tastes may change over time, but an open concept floor plan is still the best way to bring every space, and even more so every person, in your cabin together.
For many family members, the idea of a weekend on the lake varies wildly. To some it’s curling up with a book, or hanging out in the screened room. To others it might be hosting a huge happy hour. With an open concept design however, everyone can pursue their perfect weekend without having to split up.

Older cabins tend to have multiple small rooms dividing up the interior. A wide open cabin is much more conducive to allowing everyone their space without separating yourself from the rest of the family.  In the above examples, we combined the living, dining, kitchen, and sun rooms into one, seamless space. Although the idea of smaller spaces may seem cosy, this room’s natural wood and stone make this open concept just as warm and inviting as a creaky cottage.
