Fire Starters: Masonry Fireplaces
January 28, 2023
It’s been a cold, snowy winter, and the best cure is a night by the fire. Whether you’re relaxing with a drink after a day of snowmobiling, or curling up on a cool Lake of the Woods summer night, a fireplace is a necessary part of any cozy cabin.
There are a number of ways to build a fireplaces. Each type varies in cost, style, and efficiency, but none are more impressive than the masonry fireplace.
Masonry fireplaces are almost always the most expensive option but they make a grand and timeless statement. In one of our builds, three masonry fireplaces account for over 2500 individually selected stones. Built from stone and mortar, a masonry fireplace can easily weigh 20 tons or more.
For the masonry fireplaces seen above and below, these huge stone features were paired with equally impressive mantels pulled out of a nearby forest. It’s not just a functional piece – it’s also the first thing that will take your guests’ breath away.
